Joan is the founder of JEM Financial Group, Inc., a California accountancy corporation, founded in 1992. She is a licensed California CPA, with over 30 years financial, operational and regulatory accounting and tax experience. Joan’s expertise includes services to privately held businesses, high net worth individuals, real estate development and investment entities; business plan development; acquisitions/divestitures; public and private placements of debt and equity securities; establishing financial controls in turn-around situations; financing; due diligence and insurance negotiations. Throughout her career, Joan has been involved in regulatory matters ranging from providing comments on developing regulations to regulatory compliance and reporting to various regulatory agencies and the SEC.

Prior to founding JEM Financial Group, Inc., Joan held the position of Chief Financial Officer and Director of the William E. Simon financial institution management and holding companies, Financial Controller and Finance Director of Acquisitions for Citibank FSB, Senior Manager in the audit department at Ernst & Young, including three years at the National Office in charge of thrift publications and liaison to offices serving the thrift industry and as an accounting instructor at University of Illinois. Joan also serves on family foundations, family advisory and other boards.

As JEM’s Chief Financial Officer, Jeff Scrivner brings over 30 years hands on experience as an accountant and business manager. Jeff has lent his expertise to the management of many highly successful privately owned businesses and brings his unique ability for tailoring all aspects of financial accounting and business management to the specific needs of each of his clients.

An accountant and artist, Jeff is a graduate of Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Jeff also studied Theater at Pepperdine and is an accomplished actor who has traveled around the globe performing with various theater troupes. Originally from the state of Washington, Jeff remained in Southern California after graduation and began his professional career working for KPMG, one of the big 4 accounting firms in Los Angeles. Over the years, Jeff has developed diverse financial skill sets that allow him the dexterity to serve many different industries.

​Maryam has responsibility for both daily accounting and for quarterly and annual financial and tax reporting for both high net worth individuals and their personal or business entities, including servicing real estate development companies, non-profits, and entertainment companies.  With a passion for detail and a strong aptitude for numbers and financial controls, Maryam keeps a watchful eye over her clients’ accounts. She is a Senior Associate who loves the challenge of saving her clients money. She has a solid background in tax preparation and financial management and loves the fast-paced nature of her clients’ businesses and being responsive to their needs. Maryam moved to Los Angeles at a young age and spent most of her time in and around Beverly Hills. She’s a graduate of the School of Business Management at California State University, Northridge. Prior to joining JEM Financial, Maryam spent 10 years at a financial firm handling clients’ tax matters, financial planning and investment alternatives.  JEM Financial provides her the perfect opportunity to grow, increase her knowledge and effectively work with clients under the tutelage of Joan Manning. In her off hours, she enjoys going on hikes with friends and exploring new music.
